Company history:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

After the privatization of TEHAG Kft. (Temper\u00e1ltviz\u0171 Halszapor\u00edt\u00f3 Gazdas\u00e1g) - as its successor - in 2009, our company started its activities in the Biatorb\u00e1gy fish ponds under the name BIA-TEHAG Kft. Our company continued to operate from 2022 as Biafish Kft. We are currently engaged in freshwater fish farming in an area of more than 150 hectares. The main fish species in our lakes are carp (Cyprinius carpio), pikeperch (Sander lucioperca), pike (Esox lucius), grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) and Prussian carp (Carassius auratus gibelio), but we also breed silver carp (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix), bream (Abramis brama), tench (Tinca tinca), wels catfish (Silurus glanis), sturgeon (Acipenseridae) in accordance with customer needs.<\/p>\n

Production method:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

During production, we try to use the natural yield of the lakes as much as possible with polyculture population (we raise several species of fish together), we feed wheat and triticale to our fishes as additional feed. In addition to the favorable environmental characteristics of our lakes, the low fish density and the impeccable quality of abrak fodder are the guarantee of healthy, low-fat meat and tasty \"Bia fish\".<\/p>\n

Our target group:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Most of the harvest is sold to fishing ponds, but fishmongers and fish shops often choose us as a supplier during the Christmas season.<\/p>\n

Size of farmed fish:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

We usually sell three-year-old fishes, but we also one- and two-year-old fishes, if there is a surplus over our own needs. We also keep specimens of carp and grass carp weighing more than 10 kg. The purpose of the one- and two-year fish production is primarily to satisfy our own needs, and we sell the surplus to other producers.<\/p>\n

Annual cycle of fish production:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Fish production begins with stocking out after the winter filling of the ponds. With the spring warming, the amount of planktons increases dramatically, which serve as excellent food for the fish population weakened during the winter. We start supplementary feeding at the end of April, which lasts until mid-October. Usually, the fishes reach the size that can be moved to fishing ponds by July. In such cases, we do not drain the water from the lakes, we use lure feeding to accustom the stock to the suitable summer fishing spot, and in this way we carry out thinning fishing. Usually, only market carp and possibly grass carp are caught in the net, which are transported to the fishing ponds emptied during the summer season. In autumn, the fish's metabolism slows down, at which time we stop feeding and start draining the ponds. From the beginning of the fall fishing season, the entire range is available to customers, 80% of which is sold in November-December. In the spring, we sell the remaining stocks of market fish, and then we fish the small one- and two-year-old fishes, and then start all over again...<\/p>\n
